NOTE: You MUST already have
an Internet connection from home before you can access FirstClass 9 using these
steps.

*** Make sure you remember WHERE
you save the file to. A good place is usually the desktop.
Once the download is complete, find the
installer file where you saved it. For Macintosh users, it would be called
"FC9106US.DMG". For Windows users, it would be called
"FC9106US.EXE"
1.
Double click on the file and follow the instructions on the screen. Accept the
default settings that are offered.
2. On
the desktop of the computer will be an icon that says "FirstClass". Double
click on it.
3. You
should see a login screen similar to the one below.

In the bottom left corner of the
window, you will see a line that starts with ÒServer:Ó

4. If the
line reads ÒServer: mail.montcrest.on.caÓ, then you can go ahead and login
using your UserID and password.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! The line
MUST include MAIL.MONTCREST.ON.CA exactly!! If it just says Òmontcrest.on.caÓ
(without the Òmail.Ó part), you need to continue to step 5
5. If
the line reads ÒServer:Ó and nothing else, then click ONCE on the triangle
button to the left of ÒAdvancedÓ

6. Click
once on the SETUP button on the right side of the window.

You will have the SERVICE SETUP window appear for you. In the section that says "Fill in if service is accessible via
network" enter the following: mail.montcrest.on.ca
8. Click
on the SAVE button
9. You
should now be back at the login screen. Type in your user name and password
just as you would at school and press RETURN or ENTER.
You should be logged in. Please be
aware that this connection will not as fast as what you would have from
Montcrest so expect some slowness.
The next time
you wish to access your Montcrest email, all you have to do is login to the
Internet via your Internet Service Provider and then double click on the
FirstClass icon on your desktop and fill in the login info.
